Counselling and CBSE: An Outreach Programme with a Difference

Highlights of the CBSE Counselling

The CBSE annual counseling is an outreach programme which caters to the heterogeneous students' population and vast geographical spread.

CBSE started this pioneering community work 20 years back in 1998 for the first time with Tele-counselling. CBSE is perhaps the only board in the country which provides psychological counselling to the class X and XII examinees.

Tele- Counselling

Tele-counselling is offered by trained counsellors and Principals from within CBSE affiliated schools located across the world.

It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the Principals, trained counsellors from CBSE affiliated govt. and private schools, psychologists and social scientists.

It is offered twice in the year:

  • Phase I- Pre Exam, February to April

  • Phase II- Post Result, May to June

  • Timings : 8 AM to 10 PM on all days.

Prior to the annual counselling, feedback and training sessions are conducted regularly with the purpose to enhance the counselling skills of the participants.

Centralized Toll Free Access in India

Students have the facility to dial a toll free number from any part of the country to get centralized access to CBSE helpline.  While the general queries are answered by the operators, students are connected to the principals or counsellors in case of exam related anxiety or stress.
